Remembering Paul Young: June 19, 1926-June 2, 2015.

The family of Paul Young is holding a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the Elk Run Farm located southeast of Belfast in Highland County. The address is 10569 Coss Road.

Paul was a prolific writer and author of a number of published and unpublished books and papers.

He spent more than 30 years doing research back when everything was from a paper document found at libraries and historical societies.

The amount of material that he accumulated is unbelievable.

He recently came full circle in his writing upon completing the manuscript about life growing up near Mount Orab on a farm during the Great Depression years.

The story is full of anecdotes, life experiences and family connections with their neighbors at that time.

Our friendship and association of more than 15 years began before I started the Founder’s Day event at Mowrystown in 2006.

Our most memorable time was a three-day trip in 2007 to Shenandoah County, Va. to do wagon train research.

Another good trip was to the German Heritage Center to do research on their churches in southern Ohio.

Many hours were spent at the Ripley Library and the Brown County Historical Society at Georgetown.

This only scratches the surface. But we are celebrating the historical work he has done.

The photo shown is from our trip taken at Marietta on the Ohio River.
