Hillsboro goes down swinging; bows out of state tournament
The Hillsboro Post 129 season ended Tuesday morning with a 15-14 loss to Piqua Post 184, but the Hillsboro club went down swinging, almost landing the knockout punch in the ninth inning which nearly kept their American Legion State Baseball Tournament run going.

Miscues catch up with Hillsboro in run-rule loss at state
A few hours after playing a near-perfect baseball game at England Field, Hillsboro Post 129 went in the opposite direction later in the mid-afternoon at Fisher-Catholic Field, dropping an American Legion State Tournament game to Lima Post 96, 15-5 in an eight-inning run-rule loss, snapping Hillsboro's five-game winning streak.

State Bound: Post 129 wins District 7 championship
Hillsboro Post 129 baseball is state-bound. Post 129 broke a 12-year drought and won the District 7 championship Saturday, defeating, for the second time in less than 24 hours, Chillicothe Post 62, 8-2 at VA Memorial Stadium on a scorching Saturday afternoon.

Tied for the majority of the American Legion District 7 tournament game, Hillsboro Post 129 came through with big hits and even bigger defensive plays, along with solid pitching, for a 4-2 nine-inning win over Chillicothe Post 757 Wednesday evening at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe.

Defense leads to Post 129 twinbill split with Portsmouth Post 23
Hillsboro Post 129 saved one of their better team performances of the summer in their final regular season doubleheader. Though Hillsboro lost game one, 9-4, to Portsmouth Post 23, they came back to take game two 7-3, playing errorless baseball in both ends of the twinbill at Shaffer Park.

It wasn't the brightest day of the season for the Hillsboro Post 129 ball club on a sunny Sunday at Shaffer Park. In two games, Hillsboro was unable to put together a consistent game on either side of the plate, dropping a doubleheader to Lancaster Post 11 by scores of 6-4 and 8-5.

In a game where both teams combined for nine errors, it was the Hillsboro Post 129 team that came up on the short end of the winning column, dropping their second straight game, this time to Gallipolis Post 27, 7-5 at Rio Grande Tuesday night.

Hillsboro still standing after second shootout win
Hillsboro Post 129 gained two wins Saturday afternoon, but played in just one game. The Hillsboro club rallied (after giving up a four-run lead) for their second shootout win of the weekend, defeating Chillicothe post 62, 9-8.
