Tuesday, Dec. 19
Boys Basketball

Whiteoak at Fayetteville

The Whiteoak Wildcats lost to the host Fayetteville Rockets, 53-41 in Southern Hills Athletic Conference action. In the first half of their game, the Wildcats trailed 32-8. In the third, WHS outscored the Rockets 12-9, and in the fourth did the same thing with a 21-12 scoring differential.

Trever Yeager led the Wildcats with 16 points (five rebounds, three steals), followed by Traeten Hamilton with 12 points. Also for WHS, Michael Crowe finished with six points (six rebounds) and Brayden Yeager added four points. Rounding out the Wildcat scoring were Zach Rand with two points and Stephen Ross with one point.

WHS finished 1-of-5 from the free-throw line, and Fayetteville was 10-of-21.


Thursday, Dec. 21
Boys Basketball

Fairfield at Georgetown


The Fairfield Lions traveled to Georgetown for a non-conference game and returned home with a 76-75 win over the host G-Men last Thursday. The win by the Lions moves them to 7-1 overall, giving them two consecutive wins since Dec. 19 when they defeated North Adams.

The loss drops the G-Men to 4-2 overall.

Girls Basketball

Whiteoak vs. Westfall


The Whiteoak girls basketball team was defeated by the Westfall Lady Mustangs, 57-33 on this past Thursday. Westfall won the first frame 15-8, followed by the Lady Wildcats outscoring Westfall 11-8 in the second frame, leaving the score at 23-19 at halftime in favor of Westfall.

In the third, Westfall outscored Whiteoak 15-11, and in the fourth, they did the same at 19-3.

Leading Whiteoak in scoring was Cylee Bratton with 14 points and Megan Botts with 14 points. Courtney Gross finished the Whiteoak scoring with five points. For the game, the Lady ’Cats were 8-of-16 from the free-throw line.



Friday, Dec. 22
Boys Basketball

Lynchburg-Clay at North Adams


The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs defeated the North Adams Green Devils by a 61-52 score at NAHS Friday night in Southern Hills Athletic Conference action.

Girls Basketball

McClain at Ironton (Ironton Classic)


The McClain Lady Tigers lost a non-conference game on Friday night, falling to the host Ironton Lady Tigers by a 49-19 score. Emma Stegbauer was the game MVP for McClain as she led the team with seven points.

Kyla Burchett scored five points for McClain. Maddy Stegbauer, Kelli Uhrig and Hunter Scott each added two, and Bryn Karnes scored one point.

At halftime MHS trailed by a 17-10 score, and by the end of the third, McClain trailed 32-14.

Saturday, Dec. 23
Boys Basketball

McClain at Ironton (Ironton Classic)


The McClain boys basketball team lost on the road Saturday evening in the Ironton Classic to host Ironton by a 50-35 score. Devin Carter was the game MVP for McClain with a double-double by scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

At halftime, the MHS Tigers trailed by a 21-12 score. At the end of three quarters the visiting Tigers trailed 33-17.

Garrison Banks was the second-leading scorer for McClain with eight points. Dakotah Duncan added five points for the Tigers, and Kobe Penwell totaled three points. Also scoring for McClain were Ethan Cockerill with two points and Dakota Irvin with one point.



Girls Basketball

Lynchburg-Clay at Southeastern


The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs lost on the road in a non-conference game Saturday afternoon by a 62-53 score against the Southeastern Lady Panthers.

LC was 13-of-15 from the free-throw line, while Southeastern was 28-of-36.
