On the road for the second consecutive day, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs were defeated in a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game against the host Eastern Brown Warriors, losing 4-2.

LC scored their runs in the third and seventh innings, with their first run being scored by Kyle Luneke. In the third inning, Luneke doubled with one out and was scored on a double in the next at-bat by Zack Proctor.

The Mustangs scored their second and final run of the conference game with Josh Wolfe rounding the bases.

At the plate for LC, they totaled four hits with four players each having one of those hits. Earning hits were Wolfe, Ethan McConnaughey, Luneke and Proctor.

In the loss, the Mustangs didn’t have a base runner until the third inning with one out. LC was retired in order in the first, second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings, striking out seven times. Drawing a walk for LC was Blake Croy in the seventh inning, as LC had three base runners in the final inning.

The loss was charged to Caden Hess, though he allowed no earned runs against Eastern Brown. Hess pitched all seven innings in the complete game effort, allowing four runs (none earned) on six hits, one hit batter and one walk. Hess finished with five strikeouts, facing a total of 27 batters.

LC’s loss moves them to 4-2 in the SHAC and 4-6 overall.

Next for LC is a doubleheader on Saturday, April 15 vs. Western Brown at 11 a.m. The Friday, April 14 SHAC game at Ripley has been postponed.
