Holding their hosts to a single point in the first quarter, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs took control from the start and cruised to a 22-point victory on Thursday, winning on the road at Manchester by a 62-38 score.

The Southern Hills Athletic Conference win by the Lady Mustangs was their first of the season, evening up their overall record to 1-1 and 1-0 in the SHAC.



LC led early and never looked back, taking an 18-1 lead after the first quarter, and with both teams scoring 16 points each in the second, the Lady Mustangs held a 34-17 lead at halftime.

In the third quarter, LC outspread the Lady Greyhounds, 20-10, and in the fourth, LC added eight points while MHS scored 11.

Peyton Scott led LC in scoring with 24 points, making eight two-point field goals and one 3-pointer. She also added a 5-of-5 night from the free-throw line, along with four rebounds, four assists and six steals.

Zoe Fittro was next with 19 points, including making three 3-pointers and five two-point baskets. She also totaled two rebounds and three steals.

Also in double-figure scoring was Logan Binkley with 10 points (five two-point field goals), as she also collected seven rebounds.

Others to add points on the scoreboard for LC were Abby Blankenship with five points (one 3-pointer), Serena Smith with three points (one 3-pointer) and Sierra Benney with one point off a free throw.

For the game, LC went 6-of-9 from the free-throw line, totaling six 3-pointers and 19 two-point baskets.

Brooke Kennedy led Manchester with 15 points, making one 3-pointer, two two-point baskets and two free throws.

Next for the Lady Mustangs is a home game on Monday, Dec. 4 vs. Goshen in a non-conference game.
