DODSONVILLE — Lynchburg-Clay senior Karen Hilt recently signed her Division I Letter of Intent to play women's soccer next fall at Morehead State University.

Hilt's accomplishments include: NSCAA High School Girls All Region 4 Team, All-Ohio 1st Team - Division III, Southeast District Division III Player of the Year, 3-time All-Southeast District 1st Team, 2nd Team All-Southeast District and 3-time All-Southern Hills League.

This past season, the Lady Mustangs were undefeated in the Southern Hills League, winning the league title at 7-0 in league games. LC finished 16-3 overall record as the district runner-up.

Hilt has been member of the Kings Soccer Academy U17 team, where she played for coach Steve Bornhoffer. That team was state runner-up in 2008 and a state semifinalist in 2010 in Kentucky.

"It's been a pleasure coaching Karen. All of her awards are a product of her work ethic and education," Bornhoffer said this past summer. "Karen's character will make her successful on and off the field at the next level. It's an exciting time in her life, and she is very deserving of the scholarship earned to Morehead State University."

Hilt was also named to the NSCAA High School Scholar All-American Team, as she was one of only 35 girls soccer players from across the United States selected to this team.

“This is a very great accomplishment,” Lynchburg-Clay soccer coach Dennis West said. “She’s been a pleasure to coach and accomplished many great things in her career at Lynchburg-Clay.

"Karen has been an inspiration to her classmates and teammates both on and off the field. The goals and assists she has accumulated are only a small part of her values to our team and program."

Hilt is also a member of the Lady Mustangs' girls basketball team.

MSU has won the Ohio Valley Conference championship in '08, '09 and '10. In '11, they finished 11-8-3 overall.
