A season that began with McClain senior Taylor Polley starting late as she recovered from a knee injury saw her battle through and earn Associated Press Division II honorable mention honors as selected by members of the media.

Polley earned the selection as she missed the first five games of the regular season (returning on Dec. 15) but battled through the adversity to obtain not just the AP honors (she was also second-team AP All-Southeast District), but she also scored her 1,000th career point during the sectional finals.

“Taylor has worked so hard in her high school career,” MHS head coach Jarrod Haines said. “She has brought so much to this program in so many ways. We will definitely miss her.

“We are just glad she was able to put the cherry on top, scoring her 1,000th point in the tournament.”

The McClain senior point guard averaged 11.5 points per game this season, along with four assists per game and three steals per game.

Through her first 16 games of the regular season, Polley shot 66 percent from the free-throw line, while having 38 steals and 54 assists. She finished the year with 218 points.

Polley was selected Division II special mention AP All-Ohio as a junior last year.

During the fall sports season, Polley was an All-Ohio selection in soccer by the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association (OSSCA), where she was a second-team selection.
