The Fairfield Lions' hard work this season continued to pay off Thursday night with more school records being broken, as the boys and girls teams traveled to Paint Valley for the Andy Haines Invitational.
At Paint Valley, both the boys and girls teams took home fifth-place finishes out of 14 teams.
For the boys, sophomore Brandtson Duffie broke the 27-year-old meet record in the individual 800-meter run, while also breaking his own school record, with a time of 2:02.09.
The boys 4x400m relay team that includes sophomores Duffie and Bennett Hodson, junior Noah Richmond and senior Trent Swisher also broke their own school record with a time of 3:43.64.
The all-freshmen girls 4x200m relay team consisting of Mikayla Griffith, Paige Teeters, Payton Harvey and Ailean Duffie set the FHS school record with a time of 2:01.78.
Also setting school records were the 4x400m relay team consisting of Harvey, Griffith, Teeters and junior Ciara Knisley with a time of 4:43.67.
The 4x800m relay team consisting of juniors Chloe Barber, Dakota Haynes, Grace Shope and freshman Ciara Colwell finished with a time of 11:19.94.
Individual event school records were set by Colwell in the 800m run (2:41.26), the 1600m run (5:47.37) and the 3200m run (12:05.59). Knisley finished with a time of 1:07.61 in the 400m race, and Ailean Duffie had a time of 55.53 in the 300m hurdles.
The girls team will be competing at Washington Court House on Tuesday, April 18, and both teams will race at Hillsboro High School on Thursday, April 20.
