The Fairfield Lady Lions — on Thursday, Dec. 14 — gained a Southern Hills Athletic Conference win over the host Peebles Lady Indians by a 53-47 score.

FHS led 13-11 after the first quarter, then followed with a second frame where they outscored PHS, 11-0 to lead by a 24-21 score.

In the second half, FHS scored 11 points in the third and 18 points in the fourth frame, while they held Peebles to just five points in the third quarter, but allowed PHS to score 21 points in the fourth.



The leading scorer for Fairfield in the SHAC victory was Grace Shope with 22 points. She finished with seven two-point baskets and was 8-of-9 from the free-throw line.

Next was Brianna Barnes with 14 points, as she made seven two-point baskets.

The rest of the FHS scoring included Blake Adams with seven points (3-of-4 from the free-throw line, two two-point baskets), Samara Cannon with five points (two two-point baskets, 1-of-2 from the free-throw line), Ashley Sowards with four points (one 3-pointer, 1-of-2 from the free-throw line) and Carli Reiber with one point.

For the game, FHS was 14-of-19 from the free-throw line, with 18 two-point baskets and one 3-pointer.

Peebles was led by Jacey Justice with 22 points, finishing with two 3-pointers, five two-point baskets and she was 6-of-8 from the free-throw line.

PHS totaled 10 two-point baskets, four 3-pointers and were 15-of-19 from the free-throw line.

Next for the Lady Lions is a game Thursday, Dec. 28 vs. Cincinnati Northwest in non-conference play.
