Melvin Royce Cinnamon, III, known to his family and friends as Rocky, 55, of Lynchburg passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018 at the University of Cincinnati Hospital Medical Center with his wife by his side.

He was born Jan. 23, 1963 in Lexington, Ky., the son of the late Melvin Cinnamon, Jr. and Jacquelyn (Harter) West.

Rocky was an avid University of Kentucky fan, a talented handyman who loved nothing more than working on his home, working on his garden and riding his motorcycle with his wife.

He was a loving father, grandfather, husband and brother.

He attended the Mt. Orab Church of Christ.

Rocky is survived by his wife, Beverly Cinnamon of Lynchburg, whom he married on July 13, 1985. He is also survived by three children, Hilarie (Derek Ames) Byrd of Hillsboro, Mackenzie Cinnamon of Sardinia and Melissa Cinnamon of Ashland, Ky.; three grandchildren, Isom Byrd, Brady Cinnamon and Dinah Ames; four siblings, Holly (Bill) Jenkins of Winchester, Ky., Heather (Toby Estill) Cinnamon of Winchester, Ky., Kim Graves of Lexington, Ky. and Winston (Gayle Dixon) Cinnamon of Lexington, Ky.; a special aunt, Ann Carr; two nieces, Meaghan Jenkins and Hannah Hayslett; two nephews, Gavin Cinnamon and Derek (Shannon) Foote; three special cousins, Andrew Browning, Kelly Browning and Laura Browning; a mother-in-law, Delorice Smith; a brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Nancy Foote and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Melvin Sr. and Martina Cinnamon; and maternal grandparents, Roger and Madline Gosser.

Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home. Services will take place following visitation at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Leo Kuhn will be officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
