Edith Jane Shaffer Guthrie, 92, of the Pricetown community, died Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the Carriage Court of Washington Court House.

She was born June 22, 1925 in New Vienna, the daughter of the late Henry and Gertrude Delong Swingley.

Mrs. Guthrie had worked for many years as a school secretary with the Lynchburg Schools and had also worked for the Highland County Children Services and the Fireside Restaurant in Allensburg. She was a member of the Pricetown Church of Christ.

She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Jo (Ralph) Stegbauer of Washington Court House; one son, John C. “Jay” (Linda) Shaffer of Buford; one stepdaughter, Karen Guthrie of Columbus; four grandchildren, John Blake (Tricia) Shaffer, Emily P. (Brian) Whitenack, Eric (Molly) Stegbauer and Kimberly (Richard) Polen; one step-grandchild, Jordan (Penny) Guthrie; seven great-grandchildren, Samantha Whitenack, J.T. Shaffer, Maddy, Emma and Olivia Stegbauer and Joel and Charlee Polen; and one step-great-grandchild, Alex Guthrie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John F. Shaffer; her second husband, Sorency “Gus” Guthrie; and several brothers and sisters.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10 at the Pricetown Church of Christ. Leo Kuhn will officiate. Burial will follow in the Barker Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the Pricetown Church of Christ.
