Ohio Democrats demand Trump’s Education secretary nominee Betsy Devos pays $5.3 million in fines

Today, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) joined fellow Ohio Congresswomen Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) and Marcia Fudge (OH-11) in demanding President-elect Donald Trump's Education Secretary Nominee Betsy Devos to pay the $5.3 million in fines levied against her PAC for campaign finance violations in Ohio eight years ago.

"How can the public trust DeVos to ensure that borrowers repay their student loans when the group she chaired has failed to pay fines that were imposed nearly a decade ago?" Columbus-area Democrat Beatty asked.
Beatty is serving her second term representing the 3rd Congressional District of Ohio that is wholly contained within Franklin County and represents 29 municipalities including Columbus, Bexley, Whitehall, Reynoldsburg and Gahanna. Beatty serves on the Committee on Financial Services and is member of two subcommittees: Housing and Insurance as well as Oversight and Investigations. Prior to her service in the U.S. House of Representatives, in 1999, Beatty was selected to serve in the 27th House District of the Ohio House of Representatives. She went on to serve five terms in the Ohio General Assembly.
